Craft beer generates tens of billions of dollars annually for the US economy. Despite beer’s Egyptian and African heritage, these traditions have been mostly forgotten and are rarely found in American brewing culture. Today, Black-owned breweries make up less than 1% of the nearly 9,000 breweries in operation. Eager to shift the historical perception of who makes and drinks beer, Black brewers, brand owners and influencers across the country are reshaping the craft beer industry and the future of America’s favorite adult beverage.

MATCHES by Neverlyn

Official Music Video for the song MATCHES by Neverlyn from their album 'Beauty Sleep'.

MATCHES is a song by San Francisco Bay Area band Neverlyn and the video was born out of Covid-19 quarantine. The band contacted me to do an animated green screen video with their vocalist Anna Neitzel since they couldn't film with the full band. The concept revolves around going stir crazy while stuck inside surrounded by nothing but media and just wanting to get back to creating art with friends.

Statement from vocalist Anna Neitzel:

“Matches is a song about being frustrated with someone for their dishonesty and disregard for others. With COVID-19 and the lockdowns that happened, we really felt this frustration energy in our own personal lives from being stuck in our houses, and we channeled those feelings into the concept of the Matches music video.” – Anna Neitzel, vocalist
